TED (Technology Entertainment and Design) is a global set of conferences owned by the private non-profit Sapling Foundation, formed to disseminate "ideas worth spreading".

TED was founded in 1984^[1] as a one-off event and the conference was held annually from 1990 in Monterey, California.^[4] TED's early emphasis was largely technology and design, consistent with a Silicon Valley center of gravity. TED (acrônimo para Technology, Entertainment, Design; Tecnologia, Entretenimento, Design em português) é fundação privada sem fins lucrativos dos Estados Unidos^[1] mais conhecida por suas conferências na Europa, Ásia e Estados Unidos destinadas à disseminação de ideias. Segundo as palavras da própria organização, "ideias que valem serem disseminadas".^[2] Suas apresentações são limitadas a dezoito minutos, e os vídeos são amplamente divulgados na Internet.

O grupo foi fundado em 1984, e a primeira conferência aconteceu em 1990. Originalmente influenciada pelo Vale do Silício, sua ênfase era tecnologia e design, mas com o aumento da popularidade os temas abordados passaram a ser mais amplos, abrangendo quase todos os aspectos de ciência e cultura.
